DAY TWO - TAMING THAT HUNGER

"Knowing is not enough; we must apply.
Willing is not enough; we must do." ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

The night before I had went to bed with a sore throat and woke up not feeling so hot. I ended up going back to bed for a couple more hours which means I missed breakfast this morning. One of the most important rules to losing weight is eating breakfast. It's the foundation to your day and what I believe will keep you from feeling hungry. That along with water!!

I have exciting news! Today my sister Allison is starting the Weight Watcher's program as well. I am happy because this means we can support each other through the hard times. I know today she is really hungry. The first day is hard due to the cutting of calories and fat. One thing she did to cut that hunger was to eat carrots in between her lunch and dinner. That worked really well for her and plus she got a couple servings of vegetables that way. It's hard to add all those fruits and vegetables your supposed to eat daily. If anyone has any suggestions on how to add fruits and vegetables into my daily diet please comment.

Now on to this stinking rain. Everyone cross your fingers that it stops, so I am able to go biking with my co-workers tomorrow!!

DAY ONE - TAKING THE FIRST STEP

MAY 30, 2010

"There is no failure except in no longer trying." ~Elbert Hubbard

I originally joined Weight Watchers in 2007 and lost 75 pounds in the year that I attended. I then fell off the wagon when I plateued and could not get past that number on the scale. I started making the same mistakes that had gotten me in trouble the first time. It was so easy to fall back into the same routine, even though it was an unhealthy one.

Today is a new day and I am ready to embrace it. I have officially joined weight watchers once again. This time to hold myself accountable I have started this blog. What I hope to gain out of this blog is support from my family and friends. I know there will be a time on my weight loss journey where I will hit that wall again, but I hope that with all the help I will receive that I can break through this time.

My first short-term goal is to lose 5% of my body weight. I will not post my weight on here yet, but I will post loss/gain numbers. I have started a food diary where I list all the food I eat and what I drink during the day. My second short-term goal is to increase my exercise. Last Tuesday I went biking for 9 miles with some of my co-workers. I plan to continue this for the entire summer and early fall. I also am looking into yoga classes at my local YMCA for resistance training. At the YMCA I plan on doing at least two days of cardio.

If you do choose to follow this blog please feel free to post any comments, suggestions, or just words of encouragement.

Thanks,

Melanie :)
